| GSE Seminars
Free to registered attendee, these ground support seminars and panel discussions are led by industry experts. Learn about the latest challenges and discover realistic solutions! | Tuesday, March 18 | Session 1 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Alternative Fuels & the Vehicles/Refueling Stations That Can Accommodate Them
A panel discussion featuring leading industry experts
An alternative fuel is defined as one that is substantially non-petroleum, produces less air pollution than petroleum fuel. As environmental pressures and the cost of gasoline & diesel, continue to rise, alternative fuels are looking increasingly attractive for GSE operations. Learn about alternative fuel types, such as ethanol & natural gas, what types of vehicles accommodate the fuels, & about requirements for refueling stations.
| Session 2 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Ramp Security Issues Addressed in the CAPA Aviation Security Report Card
Jay Norelius, Director of Aviation Security, The Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA)
CAPA's "Aviation Security Report Card" is a curb-to-cockpit assessment of aviation security. Ramp security highlights will focus on: minimal use of biometric IDs; limited background checks, marginal employee screening, passenger & cargo ramp variations, and marginal cargo security. Session attendees will have the opportunity to discuss better layered solutions, unique training programs & improved multi-agency coordination.
| Session 3 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Fire Safety for Ground Support Personnel
Jack Kreckie, Aircraft Rescue Firefighter Working Group
Learn the requirements & safety precautions required of all ground support personnel when it comes to fire safety. The session look at FAA & National Fire Protection Association requirements & some common-sense practices. Examples of actual on-the-ground incidents will also be included.

| Wednesday, March 19 | Session 4 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Electric Battery-Powered GSE Vehicles: a Look at Their Benefits and How to Best Accommodate Them on the Ramp
A panel discussion featuring leading industry experts
Many GSE operations (especially those located in clean air quality non-attainment areas) are replacing their fossil fuel fleet with electric battery-powered vehicles. Learn the latest about electric power technology, how airport infrastructures are upgrading to accommodate electric vehicles & battery charging techniques that can reduce energy.
| Session 5 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Reducing Human-Error-Caused Accidents: a Discussion of FAA's Airport Manual Dr. Bill Johnson, Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance Systems, Federal Aviation Administration
As per the FAA's "Operators Manual for Human Factors in Airport Operations", a majority of aviation accidents are caused by human judgment errors. The speaker will discuss the findings of the manual, which he helped develop, & describe eight high-payoff areas to reduce human error on the ramp & in other airport operations. Attendees will receive a free copy of the 2007 publication.

| Thursday, March 20 | Session 6 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Making the Move From Tier 3 to Tier 4 Emission Standards in GSE
Chamila Tissera, Emissions Engineer, Deutz Corp.
The EPA’s Tier 4 emission standards for off-road diesel engines require dramatic reductions in NOx & PM emissions and will be phased in between 2008 & 2015. Find out what you need to know about these requirements.
| Session 7 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Hazardous Materials in Airport Operations: Expect the Unexpected
Ryan Spicer, Environmental Operations Analyst, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
Go beyond the runway and learn about DOT- and EPA-regulated materials associated with operations at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Explore the unexpected, with topics ranging from airfield maintenance, to fire training, to natural gas exploration.
